Justice, Hope, and Peace

In moments when we are divided and things seem to have swung out of balance, we reach out for each other to help steady ourselves. It is through these connections that we make ourselves able and ready to face a difficult world. And, as we provide this support, in ways both small and great, we begin to right what is off-kilter.

A tool that is available to us, that can help us reach each other, is one that many of us have forgotten about: singing together.

When one sings, a pressure wave travels through the space between you and all others. Every molecule that pressure wave touches vibrates along with it. This song makes the air between us, the walls around us, and the substance of our own bodies hum together – automatically. Then you sing with me, and we increase the power of that vibration, the range of its impact extends, and our connection deepens.

This program will be sung entirely in English. We hope you are able to thoroughly absorb these songs of comfort, courage, power, righteousness, generosity, and healing. Come together and sing with us, with good intentions, open hearts, and hope.

The Upper Valley Voices (formerly the Thetford Chamber Singers) is a diverse group of approximately 25 singers drawn together by the joy of singing and a commitment to bringing good music from a variety of traditions to the community.

We perform two series of concerts each season: a Winter concert in early December and a Spring Concert of sacred and secular music in early May. Our concerts are especially noteworthy for the wide variety of musical styles from various traditions, beautifully woven together with poetry and quotations to create an integrated musical, cultural and spiritual experience.

In addition to ticket sales, the Upper Valley Voices relies on the generous support of friends and audience members to help present its concerts and to commission new works. Click here to learn about making a donation.
